Marc Broussard Announces Fall Headline Tour

Southern soul singer Marc Broussard has announced dates for his fall headline tour in support of his new album A Life Worth LivingThe 17+ city tour begins September 18th in Knoxville, TN at the Bijou Theater and runs through October 11th in Roseland, VA. Initial dates are listed below with more to be added soon. Visit for the latest updates and current tour dates.
A Life Worth Living, Broussard’s sixth studio album, is a collection of ballads and soul-gut rockers that tell personal stories of his life experiences surrounding home, family, relationships and community.  From the charged metaphor of the opening track and lead single “Hurricane Heart,” to the closing existential lament “I’ll never Know,” Broussard gets really close to the bone on this record—so close, in fact, that there seems to be no distance between himself and these songs, each of them drawn from the very fabric of his life. That’s particularly true of the poignant title track about the passing of his grandmother. A Life Worth Living is available on July 29th.
Broussard was recently featured in a rousing performance on the NBC broadcast of the Miss USA Competition backed by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band Horns. View that performance here:
Following his fall headline tour Broussard will join the Southern Soul Assembly Tour. The praised artist-in-the-round performance series features Broussard, JJ Grey, Anders Osborne and Luther Dickinson. The tour will hit the west coast beginning November 2014. Dates are listed below. Levon Helm: The Levon Helm Band ‘The Midnight Ramble Sessions: Volume 3’ - Available Today!

Available Now!

The release of The Levon Helm Band – The Midnight Ramble Sessions Volume 3 on Vanguard/Levon Helm Studios represents the last musical project with which the late drummer of The Band was involved. Helm personally hand-picked the album’s 13 songs from a five-year period of live Midnight Ramble recordings, 2006-2010 at the Barn, with his longtime band member and musical director, multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell. The album features performances from the Levon Helm Band with special guests including the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson, Jimmy Vivino, Elvis Costello and New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint, capturing the homespun spirit of those gatherings, a worthy posthumous tribute to Helm’s indomitable spirit and peerless musical abilities. Aside from listening to hours of tapes to come up with the final song selection, Helm also designed the cover art for the album.

Campbell explains that, after the Electric Dirt record, he and Levon began formulating what a third album might encompass. “He wanted it to be more representative of what this band was like at a live show, featuring all of the players,” says Campbell. “Levon was having health problems, so our plan was to go through the archives and pull out tunes that best showed what our lifestyle was like.  That was his real, main motive, to showcase the band as best we could. And then he chose the tunes that he liked playing, and we edited it down to fit on a single CD. “There were probably 20 songs that he initially wanted us to include, but these were the ones we all finally decided were best.”

Jerry Lee Lewis To Release New Album ‘Rock & Roll Time’ October 28

“That is the thrill of his music – it has been a high-wire act from the start. But it has also been art of the highest order, art which has refused to accept definition or limitation, art of the greatest daring and profundity which at the same time never fails to delight.  “There’s not one-millionth of an inch difference,” Sam Phillips said, “Between the way Jerry Lee Lewis thinks about his music and the way Bach or Beethoven felt about theirs.” - From the liner notes of Rock & Roll Time written by Peter Guralnick

One of the greatest rock and rollers of all time, the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis will be releasing his new album Rock & Roll Time on October 28th on Vanguard Records – his first for the label. Rock & Roll Time features a star–studded line up of guests including Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson, Ron Wood, Neil Young, Shelby Lynne, Nils Lofgren, Daniel Lanois and more. The first single & title track premiered on

‘Rock & Roll Time’ was originally co-written and recorded by Kris Kristofferson in 1974. Lewis’ rendition features guitarist Doyle Bramhall II and Jon Brion. Recorded at the House of Blues Studio in Memphis, this 11 song collection pulls from the vaults of Chuck Berry (Little Queenie), Bob Dylan (Stepchild), Johnny Cash (Folsom Prison Blues), and Jimmy Reed (Bright Lights, Big City). Full tracklisting below.
On October 28th, Lewis will also be releasing a new biography Jerry Lee Lewis: His Own Story,(Harper) by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Rick Bragg.  Interviewing the American Icon over the course of two summers, Bragg for the first time shares Lewis’s often outrageous story as no one else ever could—straight from the legend’s mouth.
