This new PBS special showcases Chris Isaak in a personal tribute to the glory days of the legendary producer Sam Phillips and his Sun Studio in Memphis and the music created by his heroes (Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and others). Isaak recaptures the spirit of the original songs with his own brilliant band of stellar musicians, while revealing the heart and soul of his own deeply rooted musical identity. CHRIS ISAAK LIVE! BEYOND THE SUN is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations beginning June 2, 2012 (check local listings).
CHRIS ISAAK LIVE! BEYOND THE SUN was taped on February 13, 2012, before a live audience of music fans on the soundstage of Austin City Limits, the home of the legendary PBS music series. The three-act program begins with some of Isaak’s most popular hits, moves on to his tribute to Sun Records and then wraps up with a combination of both. All in all, it’s a celebration of Isaak’s own stellar career with some of his best-known and favorite recordings. Chris Isaak’s ‘Live Beyond the Sun’ tour will continue through the end of 2012. In one of the standout moments of the evening, Matt Nathanson and Sugarland premiered their new single “Run” in last night’s broadcast of the 45th annual CMA Awards. Nathanson and Sugarland – Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush - co-wrote “Run,” which is featured on Nathanson’s new album, Modern Love. Click here to watch last night’s performance. This has been a stellar year for Nathanson since the release of Modern Love. The album debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and #1 on the iTunes Pop Album Chart. He has appeared on numerous television shows including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan,Fox and Friends,VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live,Good Day New York, Lopez Tonightand the Gayle King Show. He was a recent guest on the Howard Stern Show and Billy Bush’s nationally syndicated radio program. “Faster,” the first single from Modern Love, reached Top 5 at Triple A, Top 15 at Hot AC and Top 30 at CHR/Pop Radio.
Nathanson recently wrapped his sold-out national headlining ‘All Night Noise’ tour which included a stop in Chicago where he participated in the TEDx conference joining some of the world’s top speakers on a panel discussing the creative process. He was also the first touring artist to utilize the technology of ‘Tout’ and share exclusive content and connect with fans on the road.
